Charles Liu : Archived

City Council (Fremont, CA D-6)

Connecting communities to solve problems.

My name is Charles Liu. Thank you for learning more about me, why I am running for Fremont City Council, and what my top priorities are if elected. I am married and have two daughters. My youngest daughter attended Irvington High school, in District 6. I was raised in a warm happy family with four brothers. Both of my parents were educators who truly cared about education, sharing knowledge with others, and helping people. I graduated from Deep Springs College, a very unique institution of learning, located in the high desert of eastern California. The College prides itself on the 3 pillars of labor, self-governance, academics, and aims to prepare its students for lives of service to humanity. In addition to academics, we performed physical labor such as farming, cattle ranching, milking cows, cooking and running the kitchen. These three pillars have shaped me profoundly! I attended Deep Springs not to learn a trade, nor for materialistic pursuits, but to devote myself to a life of service. Serving the community is the reason I am running for Fremont City Council. I started my career at United Airlines’ maintenance center at the San Francisco International Airport and worked there for 6 years. After working at United Airlines, I worked for various high tech companies as an IT Manager for 10 years. In 2008, I started my small solar business located near Auto Mall Parkway and Interstate 880. Today, my company provides solar installations and service, and I also do real estate work. I am very active in the community, and currently serve as one of the Planning Commissioners in Fremont. In addition, I am the president-elect of the Rotary Club of Fremont. Previously, I served two years as the President of Citizens for a Better Community (CBC).
